Hi, I’m Caelan Matthews, a certified Texas music educator with experience teaching beginner through advanced middle school and high school band students. I’m passionate about helping young musicians build confidence, develop strong fundamentals and find genuine joy in making music.
In addition to my teaching background, I’ve had the privilege of performing at some of the highest levels of the musical world. I marched with The Cavaliers and the Boston Crusaders in Drum Corps International, earning a silver medal at the 2022 World Championships. I also performed in the University of Texas Wind Ensemble, one of the nation’s premier collegiate wind bands. These experiences shaped my approach to teaching – emphasizing excellence, musicality, and structured but supportive practice habits.
After years of teaching in public schools, I’ve shifted my focus to private lessons so I can work more closely with individual students to help them reach their fullest musical potential. My teaching style is patient and encouraging. I meet students where they are in their journey as musicians and give them the tools to grow consistently and confidently.
